Efficient Origin-Destination Estimation Using Microscopic Traffic Simulation with Restricted Rerouting

چکیده
Traffic simulators are utilized to solve a variety of traffic-related problems. For such simulators, origin-destination (OD) traffic volumes as mobility demands required input, and we need estimate them. The authors regard an OD estimation bi-level programming problem, apply microscopic simulation model it. However, the trials can be computationally expensive if full dynamic rerouting is allowed, when employing multi-agent-based models in process. This paper proposes efficient method using simulator with restricted reduce computational load. Even though, case large demand, restriction on result heavier congestion. resolve this problem by introducing constraints depending link Test results show that accuracy volume reproduced proposed virtually identical existing methods but more wide-range or high-demand context.

Traffic Simulation-Based Dynamic Origin-Destination Traffic Demand Estimation for Intelligent Transportation Systems
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) have received a great deal of attention in overcoming traffic-associated problems by implementing online traffic management, which inevitably depends on the accurate dynamic traffic demand. Dynamic Traffic Demand is a fundamental input for simulation-based Dynamic Traffic Assignment (DTA) models to describe and predict traffic conditions on the network o...
متن کاملOrigin-destination Matrix Estimation for the Active Traffic Management Project
The Highways Agency (HA) is developing the concept of Active Traffic Management (ATM) schemes which will coordinate operational regimes such as controlled use of the hard shoulder as a running lane, variable speed limits and ramp metering. The pilot ATM scheme is planned to be implemented on the eastern section of the M42 between Junctions 3a and 7 by 2006. To ensure the success of all these me...
متن کاملDynamic Origin - Destination Demand Flow Estimation under Congested Traffic Conditions
This paper presents a single-level nonlinear optimization model to estimate dynamic origindestination (OD) demand. A path flow-based optimization model, which incorporates heterogeneous sources of traffic measurements and does not require explicit dynamic link-path incidences, is developed to minimize (i) the deviation between observed and estimated traffic states and (ii) the deviation between...

The paper presents an approach to estimate OriginDestination (OD) flows and their path splits, based on traffic counts on links in the network. The approach called Compressive Origin-Destination Estimation (CODE) is inspired by Compressive Sensing (CS) techniques. Even though the estimation problem is underdetermined, CODE recovers the unknown variables exactly when the number of alternative pa...
